"The Cost of Success"

"The Cost of Success"

This composition was born back in 2019, from an album by Key Glock and a realization I had while writing my senior-year final paper on how music can be used to influence, shape, and control society. That paper, album, and realization evolved into this work of art.

At its center stands an independent artist—unbought, uncompromised, and self-made—rising without permission from any industry gatekeeper. Beneath him lies his foundation: a world of concrete, struggle, poverty, and loss, where survival often comes before opportunity. It is a tribute to those who endure the greatest pain and carry the heaviest burdens, yet continue pushing forward against the odds.

The piece reflects the idea that adversity often forges the strongest leaders, visionaries, and revolutionaries. It challenges the systems designed to mold minds, suppress individuality, and silence truth. Above all, it honors those who refuse to fold under pressure, compromise their values, or sell their souls for acceptance, choosing instead to walk their own path and rise through resilience, conviction, and independence.
